Mahasanidosha Nivarana Pooja |
Every year on 2nd Saturday of December, "Maha Sani Dosha Nivarana Pooja" is being conducted at Pushpvihar Ayyappa Temple. Thousands of devotees take part in this holy event, Millions and millions of mantras - OM SANISWARAYA NAMAH - are chanted together as chorus to pay obeisance to Lord Sani - the only planet that acquired the status of Lord from 'Lord Shiva'.
As per Puranas, 'Sani is the son of Surra Dev' and 'Chayadevi' 'Lord Sani' influences each one of us since birth at certain juncture of our life mostly with its evil effects. Not only human being but also the gods and goddesses are also being influenced by 'Lord Sani'.
It is well known that the effect of Lord Sani brings extreme misery and losses. But if one propitiates Lord Sani and attains the virtuous effects of "Lord Sani's" blessings, gets devoid of the miseries and contracts prosperity in abundance, as is experienced. At this holy place the divine effect of the pleasant 'Lord Sani' is at pinnacle, also the seeking devotees prevails blessings to over come all obstacles to attain salvation.
The ritual being performed here is in a very unique manner. Devotees who desire to participate will sit together and perform the pooja. The pooja thali with pooja materials will be arranged in front of everybody in a systematic way. As per the instruction from the chief priest, the till lamp in the pooja thali will be lit by the devotees, then visualizes the Sanidev on that holy lamp. With the chanting of OM SANICHARAYA NAMHA: the flower and 'akshath' (Rice with turmeric powder) archana will be repeated one thousand and one times. After completion of this, the pooja thali with the archana material will be devoted to the 'Sani Dev' idol which is installed in the' Sanimandapa'
The pooja being performed here is considered to be the most auspicious one for eradication of the evil effects of Lord Sani. Undoubtedly, the devotees who have congregated for this holy event, or those who happen to hear the chanting of holy spell 'OM SANICHARAYA NAMHA' thereof happen to be or great virtue accumulated in their life.
Lord Ayyappa (Dharma Sastha) is the incarnation of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu in its unified form to uphold the 'Dharma' in 'Kaliyug: who is the chiefdeity in this temple, is also known as 'Kaliyug Varada'. The Ayyappa is also the legend of 'Lord Sanidev' in Kaliyug; At this holy place the divine effect of the pleasant 'Lord Sani' is at the pinnacle, also the seeking devotees prevail blessings to over come all obstacles to attain salvation.
